Stamped Concrete Patio Project

It all starts with a plan, which, like many of our activities, was mostly a notion. There were no formal drawings to work from, so we created something on paper to demonstrate how the water would drain and the general layout of the stairs and concrete retaining wall that would be necessary, and then began construction.

The Concrete Design plans

The backyard was a gravel basin that was undesirable for relaxing and enjoying the summer. Because grass would not grow and only a few plants would survive, we reasoned that a large patio ringed by concrete planters would be low maintenance and functional, while also making the back especially appealing for the homeowners and any guests.

We selected a light wash architectural concrete finish for the retaining walls and borders and a multi-color stamped concrete finish for the interior areas, a total of seven colours. You can see how we made the multi-colored, custom-cut, and grouted stamp concrete in detail in a separate stamp concrete analysis. Check out the article about customized stamped concrete.

Concrete Drainage is crucial.

This view from the south-east corner highlights the stark contrast. Water drains to a washed rock piece at the concrete patio’s lowest point.

Many of the retaining walls are at a pleasant height, finish, and thickness, allowing people to sit and engage comfortably around the perimeter. A 120-foot concrete retaining wall accommodates 1500ft2 of planters.

Small Excavation Equipment services

Seven dump truck loads of earth material were taken from this property via the tiny gate. Small machines are a huge advantage, and we have a range of diverse sizes available to make such processes more efficient and economical.

This yard includes 54,000 pounds of concrete patio, walls, and stairs, however when you stroll through it, it appears incredibly private, not overdone, and is surrounded by trees and plants, making it quite welcome.

Beautiful Stamped Concrete Combination

Separate from the stamped concrete, the concrete steps highlight the risers. The risers are lightly washed and include an overhang to provide the illusion of floating; these steps are quite modern and are highly sought after by homeowners looking for a contemporary stair riser design.

Seven different colours were troweled into the surface to simulate genuine random stone. Much of nature’s rock is multicoloured, and our customer requested a look similar to natural stone with a full range of colours to make the stamped concrete visually attractive and unique.

Each stamped concrete patio we make is unique, and colours may be customized to the customer’s wishes, ranging from a single hue to a spectrum of hues; the possibilities are really endless.

A Four Week Concrete Project

The side yard is connected to the back patio area by a stamped concrete walkway that is every 10 feet to match the larger stamped sections. This backyard patio renovation took four weeks from start to finish, and by the end of the four weeks, the back yard had been fully renovated.
